Use mimalloc for Ladybird-owned allocations without overriding malloc().
Route kmalloc(), kcalloc(), krealloc(), and kfree() through mimalloc,
and put the embedded Rust crates on the same allocator via a shared
shim in AK/kmalloc.cpp.
This also lets us drop kfree_sized(), since it no longer used its size
argument. StringData, Utf16StringData, JS object storage, Rust error
strings, and the CoreAudio playback helpers can all free their AK-backed
storage with plain kfree().
Sanitizer builds still use the system allocator. LeakSanitizer does not
reliably trace references stored in mimalloc-managed AK containers, so
static caches and other long-lived roots can look leaked. Pass the old
size into the Rust realloc shim so aligned fallback reallocations can
move posix_memalign-backed blocks safely.
Static builds still need a little linker help. macOS app binaries need
the Rust allocator entry points forced in from liblagom-ak.a, while
static ELF links can pull in identical allocator shim definitions from
multiple Rust staticlibs. Keep the Apple -u flags and allow those
duplicate shim symbols for LibJS and LibRegex links on Linux and BSD.
This performs absolutely no checks, and does not *at all* modify the
allocations in the vector, it also assumes that *some* elements exist
for the vector to be shrunk.
As JS::Value is marked "trivial" without actually being trivial, make
the one user that would lead to garbage JS::Value entries provide a
default value instead.
If multiple entries match during a single run of
Vector::remove_all_matching(), the contents of the vector would shift
back multiple times as well. This provides a new approach that iterates
only once over each entry.
Improves the provided benchmark case (running 1000 iterations) from
~900ms to ~8ms on my machine.
This is a _significant_ perf improvement as we no longer have to think
about tracking state transitions from empty <-> nonempty.
(corresponds to a ~20% perf improvement in LibWasm)
Instead of repeatedly removing elements off the vector, this allows for
specifying all the removed indices at once, and does not perform any
extra reallocations or unnecessary moves.
The special empty value (that we use for array holes, Optional<Value>
when empty and a few other other placeholder/sentinel tasks) still
exists, but you now create one via JS::js_special_empty_value() and
check for it with Value::is_special_empty_value().
The main idea here is to make it very unlikely to accidentally create an
unexpected special empty value.
This ensures constructors that take a span or an initializer_list
don't allocate when there's already enough inline storage.
(Previously these constructors always allocated)
This patch adds the `USING_AK_GLOBALLY` macro which is enabled by
default, but can be overridden by build flags.
This is a step towards integrating Jakt and AK types.
This allows for calling this function with any argument type for which
the appropriate traits and operators have been implemented so it can be
compared to the Vector's item type
These functions are _very_ misleading, as `first()` and `last()` return
references, but `{first,last}_matching()` return copies of the values.
This commit makes it so that they now return Optional<T&>, eliminating
the copy and the confusion.
Methods marked as const should always only return Foo const&, never
Foo&. Previously, this only worked correctly with Foo, but not with
Foo&: If someone fetched a T const&, this would have been expanded
to Foo& const& which is just Foo&. Therefore, they were able to modify
the elements of the Vector, even though it was marked as const.
This commit fixes that by introducing VisibleType as an alias for
RemoveReference<T> and using it throughout Vector.
There are also other cases where we don't require a mutable reference
to the underlying type, only a const reference (for example in a find
operation). In these cases, we now also correctly expand the type
to Foo const&.
We have whittled away at the usages of these AK::Vector APIs in the
Kernel. This change disables them from being visible when building
the Kernel to make sure no new usages get added.
Previously, Vector::extend for a moved vector would move the other
vector into this vector if this vector was empty, thereby throwing away
existing allocated capacity. Therefore, this commit allows the move to
only happen if this vector's capacity is too small to fit the other
vector. This will also alleviate bugs where callers relied on the
capacity to never shrink with calls to unchecked_append, extend and the
like.
This mirrors the existence of append() for data pointers and is very
useful when the program needs to have a guarantee of no allocations,
as is necessary for real-time audio.
Instead of signalling allocation failure with a bool return value
(false), we now use ErrorOr<void> and return ENOMEM as appropriate.
This allows us to use TRY() and MUST() with Vector. :^)
This was required before commit 5f724b6ca1
when we were building LibC before libstdc++ headers were available in
the sysroot. However as noted in that commit, we never actually needed
to be building LibC before libstdc++, so we can go ahead and remove this
ancient hack.
