Similar to GC::Root<T>, make GC::RootVector<T> constructible without
explicitly passing a Heap.
This is implemented by having RootVectorBase use GC::Heap::the() for
heap-free construction.
Store ResizeObservation targets weakly, matching Blink and WebKit. A
ResizeObserver can be kept alive by the document while it has observed
targets, but the observation itself should not keep a removed target and
its subtree alive forever.
Prune dead observations before gathering active resize observations.
Snapshot the document observer list before pruning so unregistering an
observer cannot mutate the intrusive list being iterated. Keep gathered
active targets rooted while broadcasting callbacks, since an earlier
callback can remove a later target and trigger GC before delivery.
Expose an internals helper to force environment-bound test objects to be
treated as garbage. Add text coverage for both pruning a dead observer
during gather and GC during an earlier resize observer callback.
Previously we were inconsistent by generating code for enum definitions
but not generating code for dictionaries. With future changes to the
IDL generator to expose helpers to convert to and from IDL values
this produced circular depdendencies. To solve this problem, also
generate the dictionary definitions in bindings headers.
Since rendering updates moved to on-demand scheduling, observing a
target no longer fires the initial size callback unless something else
happens to request a frame. Kick the frame timer from observe() so the
update-the-rendering steps run and deliver the initial entry.
Previously, the LibWeb bindings generator would output multiple per
interface files like Prototype/Constructor/Namespace/GlobalMixin
depending on the contents of that IDL file.
This complicates the build system as it means that it does not know
what files will be generated without knowledge of the contents of that
IDL file.
Instead, for each IDL file only generate a single Bindings/<IDLFile>.h
and Bindings/<IDLFile>.cpp.
Add unsafe_layout_node(), unsafe_paintable(), and unsafe_paintable_box()
accessors that skip layout-staleness verification. These are for use in
contexts where accessing layout/paintable data is legitimate despite
layout not being up to date: tree construction, style recalculation,
painting, animation interpolation, DOM mutation, and invalidation
propagation.
Also add wrapper APIs on Node to centralize common patterns:
- set_needs_display() wraps if (unsafe_paintable()) ...set_needs_display
- set_needs_paint_only_properties_update() wraps similar
- set_needs_layout_update() wraps if (unsafe_layout_node()) ...
And add Document::layout_is_up_to_date() which checks whether layout
tree update flags are all clear.
Extract the box size computation into a new compute_box_size() that
returns a plain struct with two doubles, and use it in is_active()
instead of calculate_box_size() which allocates a GC-managed
ResizeObserverSize object.
Since is_active() only needs to compare sizes and immediately discards
the result, there's no reason to involve the GC. The GC-allocating
calculate_box_size() now delegates to compute_box_size() internally.
This was 2.6% of CPU time while playing a YouTube video.
Remove 11 heavy includes from Document.h that were only needed for
pointer/reference types (already forward-declared in Forward.h), and
extract the nested ViewportClient interface to a standalone header.
This reduces Document.h's recompilation cascade from ~1228 files to
~717 files (42% reduction). Headers like BrowsingContext.h that were
previously transitively included see even larger improvements (from
~1228 down to ~73 dependents).
According to the spec, `ResizeObserver` needs to live for as long as
it's referenced from script or has observation targets. With this change
we make sure that `ResizeObserver` is unregistered from the `Document`
when it has no target.
Fixes GC leak that caused us to keep all resize observers alive until
document they belong to is destroyed.
Before this change, we were going through the chain of base classes for
each IDL interface object and having them set the prototype to their
prototype.
Instead of doing that, reorder things so that we set the right prototype
immediately in Foo::initialize(), and then don't bother in all the base
class overrides.
This knocks off a ~1% profile item on Speedometer 3.
These callbacks are evaluated synchronously via JS::Call. We do not need
to construct an expensive RootVector container just to immediately
invoke the callbacks.
Stylistically, this also helps indicate where the actual arguments start
at the call sites, by wrapping the arguments in braces.
In line with the ShadowRealm proposal changes in the WebIDL spec:
webidl#1437 and supporting changes in HTML spec.
This is required for ShadowRealms as they have no relevant settings
object on the shadow realm, so fixes a crash in the QueueingStrategy
test in this commit.
Resulting in a massive rename across almost everywhere! Alongside the
namespace change, we now have the following names:
* JS::NonnullGCPtr -> GC::Ref
* JS::GCPtr -> GC::Ptr
* JS::HeapFunction -> GC::Function
* JS::CellImpl -> GC::Cell
* JS::Handle -> GC::Root
The main motivation behind this is to remove JS specifics of the Realm
from the implementation of the Heap.
As a side effect of this change, this is a bit nicer to read than the
previous approach, and in my opinion, also makes it a little more clear
that this method is specific to a JavaScript Realm.
