Teach test-web to expose the UI-process history dump. Add focused
navigation tests for same-document traversal, fallback traversal, and
cross-document browser back and forward behavior. The expectations
assert document state and the UI-owned history snapshot.
Page IDs were allocated independently by each WebContent PageHost,
starting at zero for every process. That made them unsuitable as a
global identity for page-presenting compositor contexts, because the
same numeric page ID could exist in multiple WebContent processes.
Move page ID allocation to WebView::Application and initialize each
WebContent process with its browser-assigned first page ID over IPC.
New view requests now get a browser-assigned page ID before
WebContent creates the PageClient, and PageHost no longer owns a
local page counter.
This gives page-presenting compositor contexts a stable global page
identity, which will allow their context IDs to be derived from page
IDs and simplify compositor context allocation in a follow-up.
Add a repeatable blocker-list option that reads local list files in the
browser process. The files are concatenated into one buffer and shared
with WebContent through the content blocker IPC path when view options
are applied.
Parse the buffer in WebContent and reject malformed UTF-8 without
replacing the currently installed rules.
Rename the local content blocking implementation and its tests from
ContentFilter to ContentBlocker while keeping the existing substring
matcher backend and behavior.
Update the WebContent IPC method, WebView option names, debug toggle,
and default config file name to use content blocker terminology.
A screenshot IPC response may arrive after a timeout has already
completed the test and cleared m_pending_screenshot. Instead of
crashing with a VERIFY failure, gracefully ignore the stale response.
The set_viewport_size and set_device_pixel_ratio IPC messages were sent
separately, potentially causing a race condition when the DPR changes
(e.g. moving a window between screens): the DPR message would arrive
and use a stale viewport size, computing a temporarily wrong CSS
viewport. Combine both into a single set_viewport IPC that updates the
device viewport size and DPR together.
We were effectively copying the logic from .set_viewport_size() into
PageClient, but we forgot to actually update the viewport size on device
pixel ratio changes.
Add support for WPT test variants, which allow a single test file to be
run multiple times with different URL query parameters. Tests declare
variants using `<meta name="variant" content="?param=value">` tags.
When test-web encounters a test with variants, it expands that test into
multiple runs, each with its own expectation file using the naming
convention `testname@variant.txt` (e.g., `test@run_type=uri.txt`).
Implementation details:
- WebContent observes variant meta tags and communicates them to the
test runner via a new `did_receive_test_variant_metadata` IPC call
- test-web dynamically expands tests with variants during execution,
waking idle views after each test completion to pick up new work
- Use index-based test tracking to avoid dangling references when the
test vector grows during variant expansion
- Introduce TestRunContext to group test run state, and store a static
pointer to it for signal handler access
This enables proper testing of WPT tests that use variants, such as the
html5lib parsing tests (which test uri, write, and write_single modes)
and the editing/bold tests (which split across multiple ranges).
- Add --results-dir CLI flag to specify output directory
- Default to {tempdir}/test-web-results if not specified
- Capture stdout/stderr from all helper processes (WebContent,
RequestServer, ImageDecoder) to prevent output spam
- Save captured output to per-test files in results directory
- Save test diffs (expected vs actual) to results directory
- Generate HTML index of failed tests with links to diffs
- Display live-updating concurrent test status with progress bar
- Defer warning messages until after test run completes
For every ref tests actual and expected screenshots are taken. These
screenshots are only needed while the individual test executes. However,
they are never freed during the run, leading to a continuous increase in
memory usage of the test runner while executing ref tests.
With the number of ref tests growing, this currently amounts to nearly 3
GB of uncompressed bitmap data being held in memory. Lets avoid that by
clearing the screenshot data at the end of each test. With this change
applied, the memory usage of test-web stays stable and below 100 MB for
the entire test run.
Now that headless mode is built into the main Ladybird executable, the
headless-browser's only purpose is to run tests. So let's move it to the
testing directory and rename it to test-web (a la test-js / test-wasm).
