7088a87f49 LibWeb: Margin top collapsing between parent and first child
Implement collapsing of a box margin-top and first in-flow
child margin-top by saving function that updates y position
of containing block inside BlockMarginState and then for
every child until "non-collapsed through" child is reached
y position of containing block is updated by calling
update_box_waiting_fox_final_y_position_callback.

fe8304d5de LibWeb: Introduce structure that maintains collapsible margins in BFC
Previously y position of boxes in block formatting context
was calculated by looking at y position of previous in-flow
sibling and adding collapsed margin of "collapse through"
boxes lying between box currently being laid out and it's
previous in-flow sibling.

Here introduced BlockMarginState structure that maintains
array of currently collapsible margins hence we no longer
need to look at previous sibling to calculate y position
of a box.

992b4489ad LibWeb: Fix bug in BFC that independent FC assigned to wrong variable
Bug was introduced in 210bf8adf0c431be05659140fd6de3a2cc5b7d99
It makes new variable for independent_formatting_context instead
of using earlier declared one which means that
parent_context_did_dimension_child_root_box will never be called.

ab49dbf137 LibWeb: Convert Paintable coordinates to new pixel units
This fixes a few sizing issues too. The page size is now correct in most
cases! \o/

We get to remove some of the `to_type<>()` shenanigans, though it
reappears in some other places.

488a979306 LibWeb: Layout inner floats/abspos boxes after laying out the top float
Calling parent_context_did_dimension_child_root_box immediately after
laying out the inside of the floating box is not correct, as we haven't
worked out the dimensions of the floating box yet.

In particular, this caused the icons in the top bar of Cookie Clicker
to not hug the top of the viewport. This is because the icons are
absolutely positioned elements inside a floating element which has
padding applied to it. Since we laid out the abspos element before
the floating element, it got padding values of 0 from the parent, the
default value, meaning it didn't take away the padding of it's floating
parent.

This follows how abspos boxes layout their inside boxes as well.

4b74f36cd0 LibWeb: Resolve vertical margins against containing block width
We were incorrectly resolving them against the available width, which
may or may not be the same as the containing block width.

The specification for these properties says that percentages resolve
against the containing block width, so that's what we should do.

b13a8706e1 LibWeb: Make intrinsic heights dependent on available width
After speaking with fantasai at CSSWG about this, it turns out I had
misunderstood intrinsic heights. I originally believed all intrinsic
sizes had to be computed with no influence from the surrounding context.

As it turns out, intrinsic heights *are* influenced by the available
width, since it's needed to determine where lines break.

The APIs for calculating min-content and max-content heights now take
the available width as inputs. This instantly improves layout in many
cases where we'd previously make things way too wide.

de6d012367 LibWeb: Improve placement of abspos boxes with dual-auto insets
When an absolutely positioned box has auto insets on both sides of an
axis, it's placed according to the "static position rectangle". This is,
roughly, the rectangle a box would occupy if it were position:static
instead of position:absolute or position:fixed.

This patch implements a rough, but still significantly better,
estimation of such static positions. It gets pretty hairy in the case
where an abspos box has a parent whose children are inline.

9c44634ca5 LibWeb: Reorganize layout algorithms around available space
This is a big and messy change, and here's the gist:

- AvaliableSpace is now 2x AvailableSize (width and height)

- Layout algorithms are redesigned around the idea of available space

- When doing layout across nested formatting contexts, the parent
  context tells the child context how much space is available for the
  child's root box in both axes.

- "Available space" replaces "containing block width" in most places.

- The width and height in a box's UsedValues are considered to be
  definite after they're assigned to. Marking something as having
  definite size is no longer a separate step,

This probably introduces various regressions, but the big win here is
that our layout system now works with available space, just like the
specs are written. Fixing issues will be much easier going forward,
since you don't need to do nearly as much conversion from "spec logic"
to "LibWeb logic" as you previously did.

f161e20e57 LibWeb: Make FormattingContext::run() take available space as input
Instead of formatting contexts flailing around to figure out from the
"inside" how much space is available on the "outside", we should
provide the amount of available space in both axes as an input to run().

This basically means that when something creates a nested formatting
context, the parent context is responsible for telling the nested context
how much space is available for layout. This information is provided
immediately when invoking run().

Note that this commit doesn't pass accurate values in all cases yet.
This first step just makes it build, and passes available values in some
cases where getting them was trivial.

0843960235 LibWeb: Use CSS::Size for computed size and max-size values
This patch changes the *computed* representation of the following CSS
properties to use CSS::Size:

- width, min-width, max-width
- height, min-height, max-height

A few things had to change in order for things to keep working,
but I tried to keep the diff to a minimum.

The main trouble was that `min-width` and `max-width` can't actually be
`auto`, but they *can* be `none`. We previously treated `auto` as a
valid value (and it behaved mostly like `none`).

f0ac687823 LibWeb: Remove awkward BFC::compute_theoretical_height() function
This was used by FFC to estimate the height of flex items after
performing layout inside them.

Now that we have automatic_content_height(), we no longer need this
awkward API and we can fold it into BFC's own height calculation.

This function should return the automatic height of the formatting

Until now, we've been relying on some magical handshakes between parent
and child context, when negotiating the height of child context root
boxes. This is a step towards something more reasonable.

This fixes the last remaining issue on Acid1, which is now perfect. :^)

412b2313f3 LibWeb: Improve inline flow around floating boxes
This patch combines a number of techniques to make inline content flow
more correctly around floats:

- During inline layout, BFC now lets LineBuilder decide the Y coordinate
  when inserting a new float. LineBuilder has more information about the
  currently accumulated line, and can make better breaking decisions.

- When inserting a float on one side, and the top of the newly inserted
  float is below the bottommost float on the opposite side, we now reset
  the opposite side back to the start of that edge. This improves
  breaking behavior between opposite-side floats.

- After inserting a float during inline layout, we now recalculate the
  available space on the line, but don't adjust X offsets of already
  existing fragments. This is handled by update_last_line() anyway,
  so it was pointless busywork.

- When measuring whether a line can fit at a given Y coordinate, we now
  consider both the top and bottom Y values of the line. This fixes an
  issue where the bottom part of a line would bleed over other content
  (since we had only checked that the top Y coordinate of that line
  would fit.)

There are some pretty brain-dead algorithms in here that we need to make
smarter, but I didn't want to complicate this any further so I've left
FIXMEs about them instead.

By asking if the value *contains* a percentage rather than whether it

This brings back the cheek borders on Acid2.

6a6475673f LibWeb: Convert images to common AbstractImageStyleValue base
This commit moves both the ImageStyleValue and LinearGradientStyleValue
to a common base class of AbstractImageStyleValue. This abstracts
getting the natural_width/height, loading/resolving, and painting
the image.

Now for 'free' you get:

 - Linear gradients working with the various background sizing/repeat
   properties.
 - Linear gradients working as list-markers :^) -- best feature ever!

P.s. This commit is a little large as it's tricky to make this change
incrementally without breaking things.

61c27815e4 LibWeb: More specialization of intrinsic sizing layout
This patch adds a separate entry point for this kind of layout.
We override it in BFC to set up initial width/height values for the
BFC root block.

Resulting dimensions are assigned as content_width and content_height
at the end of intrinsic sizing, for each axis, if it's either "auto"
or there's a min-content or max-content constraint in effect.

64959a8504 LibWeb: Express intrinsic size layout via size constraints
Previously, we had three layout modes:

- Normal:
    - Everything uses the computed values from CSS.

- MinContent:
    - Containing blocks act as if they have 0 width.
    - All line breaking opportunities are taken.

- MaxContent:
    - Containing blocks act as if they have infinite width.
    - Only forced line breaks are accepted.

The above was based on a set of misunderstandings of CSS sizing.
A major problem with the above was that *all* containing blocks
behaved differently during intrinsic size layout, not just the
relevant one.

With this patch there are only two layout modes:

- Normal:
    - Everything uses the computed values from CSS.

- IntrinsicSizeDetermination:
    - One or more boxes have size constraints applied.

There are two size constraints per layout box, set here:

- FormattingState::NodeState::width_constraint
- FormattingState::NodeState::height_constraint

They are of type SizeConstraint and can be one of None, MinContent,
or MaxContent. The default is None.

When performing an IntrinsicSizeDetermination layout, we now assign
a size constraint to the box we're trying to determine the intrinsic
size of, which is then honored by using two new helpers to query
the dimensions of containing blocks:

- FormattingContext::containing_block_width_for(Box)
- FormattingContext::containing_block_height_for(Box)

If there's a relevant constraint in effect on the Box, the size of
its containing block is adjusted accordingly.

This is essentially an implementation of the "available space"
constraints from CSS-SIZING-3. I'm sure some things will break from
this, and we'll have to deal with that separately.

66d08d2417 LibWeb: Move IFC result measurement from IFC to BFC
Before this change, IFC would first generate all of its line boxes
and then measure them. It would then write some of the values into
the state of the IFC's containing block.

We now move that up to BFC::layout_inline_children() instead, which
is a much more natural place to decide metrics for the block.

a0bea0b86f LibWeb: Calculate floating elements width using min- and max-width
Previously, floating elements computed the width by only using the
`width` property. Now, they will also use the `min-width` and
`max-width` properties. :^)

The new steps are from "10.4. Minimum and maximum widths: 'min-width'
and 'max-width'" in the CSS 2 spec.

Found it when looking at curl.se.

d8ec9a5501 LibWeb: Fix computing_width of a block when LayoutMode::MaxContent
We had an issue with computing a width of a block in MaxContent
mode because we would set the width of the containing block to
infinity which would make everything in the try_compute_width
block infinity as well.

This adds a special case for width = 'auto' when
width_of_containing_block is infinity and removes the width of
containing block from the equation entirely.

9711e1b303 LibWeb: Make floating boxes in IFC occupy horizontal margin box
Previously, we only allowed floats to take up its own border box's worth
of horizontal space when laid out inside an IFC.

We should instead consume the full margin box horizonally. This fixes an
issue where a floated box on Acid3 had {width:20px; margin-right:-20px;}
but still consumed 20px of the previously available space, despite being
moved out of the way by its own negative margin.

c49c036c84 LibWeb: Stop allowing position:relative to affect layout
Relatively positioned boxes should not affect the *layout* of their
siblings. So instead of applying relative inset as a layout-time
translation on the box, we now perform the adjustment at the paintable
level instead.

This makes position:relative actually work as expected, and exposes some
new bugs we need to take care of for Acid2. :^)

So instead of collapsing them, we now add them together, which makes

de6f7f0029 LibWeb: Support CSS floats in inline flow
CSS floats are now emitted by the InlineLevelIterator. When this
happens, IFC coordinates with the parent BFC to float the box to the
side, using the current LineBuilder state for vertical placement.

This makes the "instructions" text on Acid3 render as a single
contiguous flow of inline content.

c1f0d21bbe LibWeb: Rename the LayoutMode enum values and explain them
The old mode names, while mechanically accurate, didn't really reflect
their relationship to the CSS specifications.

This patch renames them as follows:

    Default => Normal
    AllPossibleLineBreaks => MinContent
    OnlyRequiredLineBreaks => MaxContent

There's also now an explainer comment with the LayoutMode enum about the
specific implications of layout in each mode.

a2331e8dd3 LibWeb: Implement CSS transforms on stacking contexts
Since there is currently no easy way to handle rotations and skews
with LibGfx this only implements translation and scaling by first
constructing a general 4x4 transformation matrix like outlined in
the css-transforms-1 specification. This is then downgraded to a
Gfx::AffineTransform in order to transform the destination rectangle
used with draw_scaled_bitmap()

While rotation would be nice this already looks pretty good :^)

39b7fbfeb9 LibWeb: Rewrite CSS float implementation to use offset-from-edge
The previous implementation used relative X offsets for both left and
right-side floats. This made right-side floats super awkward, since we
could only determine their X position once the width of the BFC root was
known, and for BFC roots with automatic width, this was not even working
at all most of the time.

This patch changes the way we deal with floats so that BFC keeps track
of the offset-from-edge for each float. The offset is the distance from
the BFC root edge (left or right, depending on float direction) to the
"innermost" margin edge of the floating box.

Floating box are now laid out in two passes: while going through the
normal flow layout, we put floats in their *static* position (i.e the
position they would have occupied if they weren't floating) and then
update the Y position value to the final one.

The second pass occurs later on, when the BFC root has had its width
assigned by the parent context. Once we know the root width, we can
set the X position value of floating boxes. (Because the X position of
right-side floats is relative to the right edge of the BFC root.)

This is preparation for allowing blocks with their own internal BFC to
flow around floating boxes in the parent BFC.

Note that IFC still has the available_space_for_line() API, which
returns space available within the IFC's own containing block, while the
BFC available_space_for_line() returns space available within its root.

c9700e100e LibWeb: Start making our layout system "transactional"
This patch adds a map of Layout::Node to FormattingState::NodeState.
Instead of updating layout nodes incrementally as layout progresses
through the formatting contexts, all updates are now written to the
corresponding NodeState instead.

At the end of layout, FormattingState::commit() is called, which
transfers all the values from the NodeState objects to the Node.

This will soon allow us to perform completely non-destructive layouts
which don't affect the tree.

Note that there are many imperfections here, and still many places
where we assign to the NodeState, but later read directly from the Node
instead. I'm just committing at this stage to make subsequent diffs
easier to understand.

561612f219 LibWeb: Add Layout::FormattingState
The purpose of this new object will be to keep track of various states
during an ongoing layout.

Until now, we've been updating layout tree nodes as we go during layout,
which adds an invisible layer of implicit serialization to the whole
layout system.

My idea with FormattingState is that running layout will produce a
result entirely contained within the FormattingState object. At the end
of layout, it can then be applied to the layout tree, or simply queried
for some metrics we were trying to determine.

When doing subtree layouts to determine intrinsic sizes, we will
eventually be able to clone the current FormattingState, and run the
subtree layout in isolation, opening up opportunities for parallelism.

This first patch doesn't go very far though, it merely adds the object
as a skeleton class, and makes sure the root BFC has one. :^)

a4bc7e2d96 LibWeb: Hack BFC to always remember to handle position:absolute elements
Normally we don't layout position:absolute elements until after the
parent formatting context has assigned dimensions to the current
formatting context's root box.

However, some of our parent contexts (especially FFC) don't do this
reliably, which makes position:absolute children have 0x0 dimensions.

Hack this for now by making ~BFC() pretend that the parent assigned
dimensions if it hadn't done it already.

0532d7d255 LibWeb: Stop sizing the context root box in formatting contexts
Until now, some formatting contexts (BFC in particular) have been
assigning size to the root box. This is really the responsibility of the
parent formatting context, so let's stop doing it.

To keep position:absolute working, parent formatting contexts now notify
child contexts when the child's root box has been sized. (Note that the
important thing here is for the child root to have its final used height
before it's able to place bottom-relative boxes.)

This breaks flexbox layout in some ways, but we'll have to address those
by improving the spec compliance of FFC.)

54beb7433e LibWeb: Place block-level boxes vertically before formatting them inside
Block placement is now divided into a vertical and horizontal step. The
vertical step runs before formatting boxes internally. The horizontal
step still runs after (since we may need the final width value.)

This solves a long-standing architectural problem where IFC didn't know
its origin Y position within the BFC root box. This is required for
figuring out how to flow around floating objects. (Floating objects are
always relative to the BFC root.)

f5c5efa067 LibWeb: Allow CSS floating objects to flow across multiple lines
If we run out of horizontal space when placing floating objects,
we now perform a "break" and continue with a new line of floats
below the bottommost margin edge of the current line.

This is definitely not 100% to-spec yet, but a huge improvement
on ACID1 already. :^)

bfcbab0dcf LibWeb: Remove reference_for_percent parameter from Length::resolved()
Despite looking like it was still needed, it was only used for passing
to other calls to Length::resolved() recursively. This makes the
various `foo.resolved().resolved()` calls a lot less awkward.
(Though, still quite awkward.)

I think we'd need to separate calculated lengths out to properly tidy
these calls up, but one yak at a time. :^)

A lot of this is quite ugly, but it should only be so until I remove
Length::Type::Percentage entirely. (Which should happen later in this
PR, otherwise, yell at me!) For now, a lot of things have to be
resolved twice, first from a LengthPercentage to a Length, and then
from a Length to a pixel one.

877ddaa016 LibWeb: Fix off-by-one in initial containing block overflow calculation
We're using the outermost right and bottom child edges to determine the
width and height of the ICB. However, since these edges are *within* the
respective child's rectangle, we have to add 1 when turning them into
width and height values.

This fixes an issue where scrolling a document would shrink its viewport
rect by 1 pixel (on both axes) on every scroll step.

27d4ac316f LibWeb: Introduce simple scrollable overflow, size ICB to viewport
Per spec, the initial containing block (ICB) should have the size of the
viewport. We have only done this for the width until now, since we had
no way to express scrollable overflow.

This patch adds Layout::Box::m_overflow_data, an optional struct that
can hold on to information about a box's overflow. Then we have BFC
set the ICB up with some scrollable overflow instead of sizing it to fit
its content vertically.

This fixes a number of broken layouts where correctness depends on
having the appropriate ICB height.

Per the spec, only a BlockContainer" can have line boxes, so let's not
clutter up every Layout::Box with line boxes.

This also allows us to establish an invariant that BFC and IFC always
operate on a Layout::BlockContainer.

Note that if BlockContainer has all block-level children, its line boxes
are not used for anything. They are only used in the all inline-level
children scenario.

in normal flow. Otherwise, the position isn't set on the first layout.
The effect was that the block would "jump" into place on a secondary

The case for computing auto-height of block elements which have block-
level children was erroneously skipping some children:

1. If the block element itself is absolute or floating, all children
   were skipped due to a likely typo ("box" vs. "child_box" inside the
   for-each loop).

2. Floating children should only be skipped if the block element's
   'overflow' property computes to 'visible', per section 10.6.3 of the
   CSS height property spec. If the property computes to another value,
   section 10.6.7 only indicates that absolutely positioned children
   should be skipped.

Auto block heights are now computed according to something that kinda
resembles the specification.

Blocks with inline children and height:auto have their height computed
based on the top of the first line box and the bottom of the last line
box. Very straightforward.

Blocks with block children and height:auto have their height computed
based on the top of the first in-flow block child's margin box, and the
bottom of the last in-flow block child's margin box.

5d180d1f99 Everywhere: Rename ASSERT => VERIFY
(...and ASSERT_NOT_REACHED => VERIFY_NOT_REACHED)

Since all of these checks are done in release builds as well,
let's rename them to VERIFY to prevent confusion, as everyone is
used to assertions being compiled out in release.

We can introduce a new ASSERT macro that is specifically for debug
checks, but I'm doing this wholesale conversion first since we've
accumulated thousands of these already, and it's not immediately
obvious which ones are suitable for ASSERT.

The approach of attaching sub-widgets to the web view widget was only
ever going to work in single-process mode, and that's not what we're
about anymore, so let's just get rid of WidgetBox so we don't have the
dead-end architecture hanging over us.

The next step here is to re-implement <input type=text> using LibWeb
primitives.
