The idea here was to use popovers, which natively support dismissal via clicking outside the dialog and pressing the escape key. However, unlike modals, popovers do not make the rest of the document inert. And there isn't a handy way to achieve this. So while a popover is open, you could interact with elements behind the dialog, which we don't want. |
